What happens when a college television adviser spends a summer working for a local small town radio station? She stretches her critical thinking skills to bridge the gap between the town and gown while also providing her students with exciting local radio and TV experiences.     Some FCC Reports Due

    FCC licensed noncommercial stations in Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Washington and the Pacific Islands need to electronically submit a biennial ownership report by deadline October 1.

    Under new rules, ALL commercial stations need to file biennial ownership reports on November 1, 2009

    October 10 is the deadline for placing stations quartlery Issues and Programs list in the Public File.

    Student Radio Reaches Larger Audience via HD-2

    According to tbo.com, beginning Saturday, Bull Radio will be carried over WMNF’s HD2 signal.  Bull Radio is the University of South Florida’s student operated radio station, which is currently limited to “AM in the vicinity of the USF Tampa campus”, presumably, carrier current or other Part 15 operations.  The article also describes WMNF as, ” an independent community radio stationed supported by donations and volunteers.”

    WJIF $19k forfeiture for EAS and failure to respond

    The FCC has notified Opp Educational Broadcasting Foundation, licensee of WJIF that it is apparently liable for $19,000 due to the failure to comply with EAS rules ($8,000) and for twice failing to respond to the FCC ($11,000).  Word version of Notice.     OU TV Station reach grows, name changes

    According to http://newsok.com/, the student run cable TV channel TV4OU has changed its name to OUTV.  The channel has also moved from channel 4 in Norman to digital channel 124.  The move increases the reach of the station from 30,000 homes to more than 180,000.
