Student Designers: Help us show off Seattle!

Attention CBI Member Station Students! Design a logo for the College Broadcasters, Inc. 2014 National Student Electronic Media Convention in Seattle! Student entries are being accepted for the official convention logo design, which will appear on convention promotional materials.

Designs should visually represent both CBI and Seattle. The winning student entry receives a $50.00 award. You must be a current student staff member at a CBI Member Station to be eligible for the contest. All entries will be blindly judged.

Logo design specifications

1. The logo must be square in shape.

2. Logo text must contain the words “CBI,” “Seattle,” and “October 2014.”

3. Logo must contain the standard CBI logo incorporated into the design from the CBI website. (Download a zipped .EPS file here.)

4. Logo should be produced in two versions: one black and white and one black and white plus one iconic spot color. The spot color is up to the designer’s choice.

5. Submission files need to be submitted as both .eps and .jpg formats. Four files are required for a complete entry: the black and white .eps, the black and white plus spot color .eps, and then the black and white as a .jpg and the black and white plus spot color .jpg. The overall design should remain universal among all four files.

6. A text document specifying the “graphic and text standards” of the design files must be submitted. Include color specification, font names, sizes and styles used in the designs. EPS files require fonts to be converted to outlines.

7. Designs should be ready to use if selected as the winner. Example uses include the convention program, name tags, convention website, t-shirts, and other promotional materials.

8. Entry indicates that any artwork used is indeed that of the designer submitting the work and not any copyrighted material. No pre-produced clip-art files may be used. The design must be 100% originally produced by the student submitting the entry.

9. All files should be named with the designer’s last name and a file description. For example: “SmithBW.jpg” or “Smith-Spotcolor.eps.”

10. Include the following information in the text of the email submission:

  • Your name
  • Your school name
  • The media group you represent (audio, video, multimedia)
  • Your contact mailing address
  • Your contact email address
  • Your faculty or staff adviser’s name, phone number and email address

11. Send all submissions to CBI Treasurer Lisa Marshall at lisam@muskingum.edu. All submissions must include a compressed file zipped folder or a link to a Dropbox (dropbox.com) shared folder containing all four designs and the “graphic and text standards” document. All required files must be in the email, the zipped folder or the dropbox folder to be eligible.

12. Incomplete submissions will not be eligible for the logo contest.

13. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013. All timely received submissions will be acknowledged via email return receipt.

13. Winner will be announced by Friday, Oct. 4, 2013.

14. The winning logo will automatically become property of CBI for organizational use. CBI reserves the right to alter, at its discretion, any part of the designs.

15. Visit the CBI website, askcbi.org, for more information about CBI’s conferences.
