This old media guy has been told that, to succeed in today’s new media world, you need draw in the audience with a dynamic lede and keep your stories brief and to the point.

Actually, that really doesn’t sound too different than what we’ve always done. But, since my picture hardly qualifies as clickbait, I’ll take a page from the interwebz and make today’s blog a listicle about the National Student Electronic Media Convention, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis from October 22-24.

8 REASONS YOU NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE NSEMC TODAY!!!!!!

  1. Keynote speaker Clinton Forry. Whatever type of media outlet you’re a part of, you’ll benefit from his Saturday keynote, “Clear, Concise and Compelling: Use Content Strategy to Better Tell Your Story.”
  2. The National Student Production Awards. Stick around after the keynote address to see the best of the student media world be honored for their work.
  3. The rest of the Saturday lineup. There will be more and better sessions on Saturday morning than we’ve ever had before. Set your alarm – we’ve got an unprecedented eight concurrent sessions Saturday morning at 9, 10, and 11.
  4. Thursday and Friday sessions. I couldn’t highlight Saturday without mentioning the other two days of awesomeness we have lined up for you. Our session list is bigger and better than ever before. The full list of sessions and presenters can be found at http://askcbi.org/minneapolis/sessions-speakers/.
  5. The pre-convention workshop. Designed for new and emerging advisers, the Wednesday, October 21 workshop will feature three hours of interactive training on all aspects of student media advising. Be sure to pre-register now to reserve your spot!
  6. Intensive Adobe Training. CBI’s VP, Herb Dunmore, is a Certified Technical Trainer. He will lead Adobe Creative Foundations, a three-hour training, Friday morning. No additional fees or pre-registration required for this unique opportunity.
  7. CBI has secured four tours of top media facilities in Minneapolis. Registration is open at http://askcbi.org/minneapolis/tours-more/media-tours/.
  8. Deadlines are approaching! Early-bird registration ends October 1. And our discounted room blocks in both the Hyatt Regency and our overflow hotel are almost sold out. So, make your reservations today.
