24-Hour Marathon Highlights 2015 College Radio Day
Houston Public Media soon-to-be-relaunched KBLT-F/Houston is celebrating the fifth annual College Radio Day by holding a 24-hour marathon on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2nd, coinciding with the former Rice University station KTRU’s return to the airwaves as an LPFM radio station. The 24 hours of college radio will start at midnight (CT); every hour, stations “pass the baton” to each other, from coast-to-coast, with hours of special programs planned.

CMJ’s New Owner Has Big Plans for the Beleaguered Brand
CMJ’s role as a fulcrum for the national community of college radio stations — it has relationships with 455 campuses — waned along with its relevance through the ’00s, when ownership changes and revenue troubles began to chip away at the volume of its voice. Klein describes a strategy that would bring its base of member stations back into the conversation, through shows held throughout the year, unassociated (save the CMJ umbrella) with the flagship, New York-based Marathon.

Kentucky Wesleyan College President to host weekly radio show
Kentucky Wesleyan College’s radio station, WKWC, which airs on 90.3 FM, will welcome a new radio personality Wednesday, Sept. 2 — KWC President Bart Darrell.
In a show called The President’s Place, Darrell will speak to invited guests from the area to discuss their roles within the community.

WQFS is still marching to its own beat
WQFS is not your average college radio station and is no stranger to being in the spotlight. The station has been able to hold a top-20 spot in the nationwide Princeton Review survey of college radio stations for over five years while earning the number 11th spot this year. News & Record even named WQFS the best college radio station in the Triad.
