WPRB Princeton gears up to celebrate 75 years on the air

Founded in 1940, WPRB was one of the first college radio stations to broadcast on FM, and we’ve been recognized over the years by publications including The New York Times and Spin Magazine. Today, we have a strong following both at Princeton University and in the surrounding community– in fact, the station is one of the few spaces where college students interact with community members on a regular basis.

Over the past few months, we’ve been putting together an exhibit featuring photos, DJ testimonials, and station memorabilia from the past 75 years. We’ve also launched a brand-new website, www.wprbhistory.org, commemorating the station’s evolution.

Sale of public TV station could net $40 million for Ohio college

Dave Kielmeyer, BGSU’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, says the school would invest the funds from a sale back into academic programming.

Kielmeyer says if the university doesn’t sell, WBGU would still likely be consolidated with another station by the FCC.
