Column on KCSC Student Radio in The Orion (CSU)

The Orion at SCU ran a column about a students experience with the student radio station on campus, KCSC.

Here is an excerpt from the column.

“While sitting in my English 130 class as a sophomore, a fellow student stood up and pitched the KCSC radio meeting that was going on later that week. I had never heard much of the campus radio station but had seen their building on West Fifth and Ivy streets. In his pitch, the student said that anyone with a love for music should come to the meeting.

My love for music is now defined by what I have learned while working with KCSC. Prior to interning at the radio station, I had no clue how much quality music is made on a non-commercial level.”

A little about KCSC from their “about us” page.

KCSC is the Chico State student owned & operated, indepedent, free-form, non-commericial, non-profit internet radio station. We don’t play the same stuff that’s on the commercial radio stations or music TV channels. Check out the Music Philosophy page to find out more about what we don’t play and what we do. If you’re a band, label, promoter or just happen to have a lot of CDs you want to send us, the Getting Airplay page should answer your questions.

We’re funded by the Associated Students Activity Fee.

We currently broadcast only on the internet. Read the History page to find out more about KCSC.”
